Guest Paul R Posted August 22, 2011 at 01:32 PM Report Share Posted August 22, 2011 at 01:32 PM Board discussed action item: which was the succession of board members and assignment to committees by President.Certain Members of Board wanted to change time required of 18 months on Board before being voted to be president of Board. Board took vote changing term from 18 months to one year. Motion caried 3/2. Another board member wanted to readdress the items again at another board meeting and was questioned as to why it was being brought up again. One Board member, wanted to change his vote to return to the previous process of requiring the 18 months verse the one year.
Robert B Fish Posted August 22, 2011 at 02:09 PM Report Share Posted August 22, 2011 at 02:09 PM Terms of office should be in your bylaws and not subject to a main motion at board meetings.A change in your bylaws becomes effective immediately so the method to "revisit" a change is through the process of amending your bylaws.-Bob
Tim Wynn Posted August 23, 2011 at 01:39 AM Report Share Posted August 23, 2011 at 01:39 AM Terms of office should be in your bylaws and not subject to a main motion at board meetings. The way I read it, Paul R is describing a requirement for holding office, not a term of office. Still, though, it's a matter that should be in the bylaws.
