Guest Carolyn Posted September 6, 2011 at 09:09 PM Report Share Posted September 6, 2011 at 09:09 PM The president wants to change the date of the next regular meeting with 6 days' notice. Can he do this? I thought the VP presided if the pres could not attend.

Can he do this? Nothing in RONR grants him that authority.I thought the VP presided if the pres could not attend. You are correct. So unless the bylaws (or some other superior rule) grants the President the authority to reschedule a meeting you should go ahead and have the meeting when it is supposed to be. I am sure the President likes to think otherwise but I have confidence that you all can hold down the fort without him there.

That authority would have to come from your bylaws or other governing documents.
