Guest Edmund sowers Posted September 13, 2011 at 12:20 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 at 12:20 PM When operating under Roberts Rules of Order, is it proper to ask prospective members to an organization or club to leave the room while their request for membershio is being voted upon? If prospective members do not leave the room, is the organization liable for any negative comments made about their fitness as members in the organization? Larry Cisar Posted September 13, 2011 at 12:24 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 at 12:24 PM Candidates for membership are not members so they only have the rights of attendance that the body gives them. In short, you can ask them to leave the room. As to liability, talk to a lawyer.
