Chris Harrison Posted September 13, 2011 at 10:27 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 at 10:27 PM Can a public body choose not to approve minutes or not even have minutes approval on the agenda?Yes the same as the body's Chair can go into a bank and rob it. It can be done but it is HIGHLY not recommended. The minutes are a record of what was done at the meeting. If there are no minutes how is the body going to know what was done in their September meeting in 20 years?
Josh Martin Posted September 14, 2011 at 03:29 AM Report Share Posted September 14, 2011 at 03:29 AM Can a public body choose not to approve minutes or not even have minutes approval on the agenda? It can, but it would be a very bad idea. The minutes are the official record of the assembly's actions. To lack such a record would be highly problematic. Since this is a public body, there may even be legal ramifications for failing to approve minutes.
