Guest Mildred Posted September 15, 2011 at 01:45 PM Report Share Posted September 15, 2011 at 01:45 PM Is the Executive Board or Election Committee obligated to define each position vacancy at a particular meeting? I have read the RONR and don't really see as such, but may have missed it...Thanks

I don't quite understand your question. Can you please clarify what you mean by "define each position vacancy"?
Guest Guest Posted September 15, 2011 at 02:44 PM Report Share Posted September 15, 2011 at 02:44 PM A council member complained that the duties/responsibilities of each position for Executive Board was not adequately explained/defined to the General membership, thereby, council members were confused or not sure that those persons nominated for those positions were the right people. David A Foulkes Posted September 15, 2011 at 02:54 PM Report Share Posted September 15, 2011 at 02:54 PM Section 47 (RONR 10th Ed.) covers the "standard" duties, responsibilities and authority of officers. Typically, the bylaws will include any additional duties and such, and may also include language that limits, expands, redefines or reassigns them. It would be recommended that every member have a copy of the bylaws so they would be aware of all this. I'm not sure there is an obligation on the Executive to advise the members in detail at the time of voting, but it might be a good idea so the best persons get elected.
