Guest DB Posted November 9, 2011 at 08:14 PM Report Share Posted November 9, 2011 at 08:14 PM Our president has brought forth a person for membership in our soicial club. Can the president do that and still preside over the process? In our process, you can lobby your candidiate to others for support. Can the president lobby for their candidate and still be partial. I did not see anything in Robert's rules about this and was loking for guidance - our bylaws are slient on it.

He cannot, while presiding, make motions, with a few exceptions. Simply because you know he petsonally supports a motion does not preclude him from presiding during its consideration.
