Trina Posted November 26, 2011 at 11:08 PM Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 at 11:08 PM Our bylaws say, "..shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order current edition.". What is date of Edition 11?I believe people were finding the first copies of the 11th edition in bookstores around the week of September 20, this year. Did something happen in your organization around that time -- something that you believe would make the question of date important?

Guest Edgar Posted November 27, 2011 at 12:09 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2011 at 12:09 AM Interesting... where did that information come from? The same date appears in both the Amazon.com listing and on Open ISBN.Though I can't imagine it having much practical parliamentary significance. HAWVET Posted November 27, 2011 at 05:06 PM Report Share Posted November 27, 2011 at 05:06 PM Extracted the below from Wikipedia."The current edition of the series was released on September 20, 2011, and entitled Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised, Eleventh Edition (2011) (hardback ISBN 978-0-306-82021-2; paperback ISBN 978-0-306-82020-5; leatherbound ISBN 978-0-306-82022-9)[6][7]. This edition states that itsupersedes all previous editions and isintended automatically to become the parliamentary authority in organizations whose bylaws prescribe "Robert's Rules of Order," "Robert's Rules of Order Revised," "Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised," or "the current edition of" any of these titles, or the like, without specifying a particular edition.' Josh Martin Posted November 29, 2011 at 01:36 AM Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 at 01:36 AM Our bylaws say, "..shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order current edition.". What is date of Edition 11?Well, I expect the debate over whether the exact effective date of the 11th edition is Sep. 20th, Sep. 24th, Sep. 27th, or some other date in late September will continue among the regulars of this forum for some time, but whatever the case, the point is that it has been the current edition for about two months now. There aren't any changes so drastic that this change should cause a panic, but your society should get a copy at its earliest convenience, as it is now your parliamentary authority.
