Election invalid if candidate disqualified in error?

A name is nominated for office. That person is stated to not be able to run for office. The election is held without that name being nominated. Later it is determined the person could legitimately run for office. Is the election for that office invalid and the election have to be held again or does the person elected hold that office?

The member could have appealed or, if this was the ballot, the members could have written in his name (assuming this was a ballot vote). The election was most likely legitimate.
