Guest JAnderson Posted January 11, 2012 at 01:48 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2012 at 01:48 PM We have a committee that is lacking both a chairperson and vice chairperson. What is the proper way to have a meeting to replace these positions and who runs it?
Chris Harrison Posted January 11, 2012 at 02:29 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2012 at 02:29 PM Ultimately whichever body appointed the Committee members will need to name the new Chair and Vice Chair (unless they had delegated that authority to the Committee). In the meantime any committee member can call the meeting to order and the committee would elect a Chair pro tem to preside (RONR doesn't provide for how to elect a Vice Chair pro tem-probably because only the Chair pro tem will be presiding and the committee can elect another one if necessary). Sean Hunt Posted January 11, 2012 at 02:34 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2012 at 02:34 PM We have a committee that is lacking both a chairperson and vice chairperson. What is the proper way to have a meeting to replace these positions and who runs it?If it's a committee, and the chair is appointed directly by some other organization or person rather than elected by the committee, then at each meeting, the committee should elect someone to serve as chair pro tem (meetings can be called by any two members).
