MnMoM Posted March 12, 2012 at 09:43 PM Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 at 09:43 PM We elected a slate of candidates to a Special Committee and now one of them has tendered her resignation. I will bring the resignation before the membership at the next meeting to be accepted; however, I am confused about how to proceed beyond that. Can the committee choose to move forward as three members or does the vacancy need to be filled? jstackpo Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:03 PM Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:03 PM Committee can proceed, if there are no provisions in your rules to the contrary. But do fill the vacancy at your earliest convenience.
Guest Guest Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:37 PM Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:37 PM Sorry, I wasn't clear. The committee would like to become a committee of three for the remainder of their commitment. They would rather not fill the seat.I am of the opinion that the seat should be offered to anyone in the membership should anyone want to join, with an election if needed. jstackpo Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:43 PM Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 at 10:43 PM The assembly that established the committee can change the makeup of the committee. (Via Amend Something Previously Adopted - p.305.) The committee can only ask that it happen.
