Guest Marlene H Posted April 24, 2012 at 07:12 PM Report Share Posted April 24, 2012 at 07:12 PM My congregation is revising it's bylaws & will be voted on by the membership to take effect 7-1-12. The proposed bylaws include a reduction in the number of trustees & officers from the effective date forward. The slate of officers & trustees for the coming year are to be voted on by the membership at the annual meeting in June. The current bylaws state there shall be 36 members, eight shall be elected officers and up to 24 trustees. The elected officers will be reduced by 2. We realize that we will not have a problem with the number of trustees since we can nominate "up to" which is not the case with the officers.Do we present a slate using the current bylaws or can we present the slate based on the contracted numbers in the proposed revised bylaws? Chris Harrison Posted April 24, 2012 at 07:22 PM Report Share Posted April 24, 2012 at 07:22 PM When are you all voting on the proposed bylaw amendments at the June meeting (to take effect 7/1) or on 7/1? If you all are going to vote on the bylaws at the Annual Meeting I would suggest the bylaws be voted on before the elections so you know how many Officers need to be elected.
