Commodore leaves the podium

Hello, durring monthly membership meeting a question was asked and was being debated. It got so bad that the commodore walked away from the podium and approached a member within 2 feet and it looked like a fight was about to start. The question is, is there a rule on proper protocol for staying at the podium?

I don't think there is a specific rule that the presiding officer (which I assume the commodore is) needs to stay at the podium while presiding (though it would seem to be common sense). However, it certainly would be violating decorum if the commodore and member are having hostile words and it would be disturbing the assembly to have the two start rumbling. Someone should have called the aggressor (or both of them if warranted) to order before things got that bad.

Actually, that's NOT the question. The question should be concerned with the presiding officer engaging in fisticuffs.

As far as the podium question goes, the unwritten rule is that the chair can only punch, kick, or head butt a member who is within six feet of the podium.
