Guest joan Posted May 24, 2012 at 12:40 AM Report Share Posted May 24, 2012 at 12:40 AM An organization has bylaws that call for a corresponding sec and a recording sec. Both secretaries have been elected for the following year. The organization wants to amend their bylaws to change to only a recording secretary.Does the corresponding secretary stay in office for the year she was elected and then for the following year, the new bylaws take place? That would seem to make sense, rather than take an officer out of position mid year.
Guest Edgar Posted May 24, 2012 at 12:49 AM Report Share Posted May 24, 2012 at 12:49 AM Does the corresponding secretary stay in office for the year she was elected and then for the following year, the new bylaws take place?Unless you include a "proviso" which keeps the current corresponding secretary in office until her term expires, she's out of a job the minute you adopt the amendment that eliminates her office.
