Guest Jack Ezelle Posted June 4, 2012 at 06:45 PM Report Share Posted June 4, 2012 at 06:45 PM If a motion is made by a standing committee, does it, or does it not require a second from the floor? For example, a committee report coming in the form of a motion to be approved as reported. I have been told that motions coming from a committee do not require a second. Tim Wynn Posted June 5, 2012 at 01:06 AM Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 at 01:06 AM If a motion is made by a standing committee, does it, or does it not require a second from the floor? For example, a committee report coming in the form of a motion to be approved as reported. I have been told that motions coming from a committee do not require a second. So long as the committee had more than one member, a motion made by its reporting member by direction of the committee does not require a second. I'm unclear; are you saying the motion is to approve the report of the committee, or is there simply a motion contained in the report?
