Same motion

Last week at a special called school board meeting the superintendent made a recomendation to hire person a for one job and person b for another job. Both recomendations failed. This week the school board had another special calle school board meeting. The superintendent recomended the same person A for the same job and the same person B for the same job.

My question is since the board voted on these two people for the same two jobs at the last meeting and it failed would these be two new motions or would this require members from the prevaillng side from the prior week to make the motion?

Note the three members that were present from the prior week were not in favor of the motions being brought back up since they were defeated the week before.

Well, then they can defeat them again. And again. Motions that fail at one meeting can be renewed (made again) at the next meeting. They're new motions, and it doesn't matter how anyone voted before.

But who is making these motions? The superintendent recommends things, and then somebody must be making the motion, yes? Or does your superintendent somehow have the right to make motions?

In any case, since the superintendent works for the school board, the board can pass a resolution (actually an "order") to instruct the superintendent to find different people.

But if your school board is a public body, there may be statutes that supersede RONR, and you might want to check with your board attorney about the procedure requirements if any.
