Guest David Posted July 10, 2012 at 05:50 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 at 05:50 PM Hello,At my school we have a Student Council. Every spring, every student votes to elect the executives (ie President, Treasurer, etc) and class representatives (2 for each year). These individuals are then left to their own accord for the year.My question is if one of the class representatives are not doing their job, can the Student Council vote to remove them? Or would the student body as a whole have to vote them out through a referendum or general meeting?I've read page 653 "Removal from Office" and what is unclear to me is what is the meaning of a "society's assembly"? Would that be the entire student body or would it be just the Student Council. If it is the former it would make me think that the Student Council could not remove one of it's members but if it was the latter, then it could.Any insight is much appreciated. Chris Harrison Posted July 10, 2012 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 at 06:08 PM Unless your bylaws say otherwise only the General Membership (whichever body that may be) has the authority to initiate disciplinary action. See FAQ #20 for details.
