Chris Harrison Posted July 25, 2012 at 06:25 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2012 at 06:25 PM All Main Motions (as amended ) should be included word-for-word in the minutes (RONR p. 469 ll. 13-25).
Trina Posted July 26, 2012 at 12:23 PM Report Share Posted July 26, 2012 at 12:23 PM There is no specific provision in RONR regarding dollar amounts. As Chris notes, the exact wording of the motion should go in the minutes. However, the exact wording of the motion is ultimately in the hands of the assembly (RONR does not enforce sensible or precise wording -- that is the job of the assembly). For example, someone could move, "that we approve the proposal that Mike received from XYZ Roofing yesterday." Now, Mike may have forgotten to bring the proposal to the meeting. He may even have left the envelope unopened on his kitchen table. Although one would probably question the assembly's wisdom in adopting the motion, there isn't any rule that prevents them from adopting it (with no dollar amount in sight).
