Guest Jan Murray Posted August 30, 2012 at 09:41 PM Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 at 09:41 PM Should all motions made and voted on required to be included in the minutes of the meeting?
Trina Posted August 30, 2012 at 09:53 PM Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 at 09:53 PM The minutes should contain the wording and disposition of 'all main motions or motions to bring a main question again before the assembly that were made or taken up -- except, normally, any that were withdrawn...' (RONR 11th ed. p. 469 ll. 13-16)What sort of motions did you have in mind when asking your question?
Guest Guest Posted August 30, 2012 at 11:22 PM Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 at 11:22 PM Trina: A main motion was brought before the assembly and the vote was to table. Shouldn't this be in the minutes? Thank you for responding.
Trina Posted August 31, 2012 at 12:42 PM Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 at 12:42 PM Yes, that is a form of disposition of the main motion, and should be in the minutes. You may also want to read this FAQ, since it sounds as though the assembly is misusing the motion to table (a common error).
