Guest Lanelle Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:21 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:21 PM Due to the tragic death of our secretary's manager in a local plane crash, we may not have minutes of our last meeting for upcoming meeting tomorrow night. In the absence of them, do we need to make a motion to take them up at the next meeting and move on to the next item. Or do we just acknowledge we don't have them and go on with the meeting. I couldn't find anything in RORN.
tctheatc Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:24 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:24 PM You should recreate the minutes as best you can, using memory and any other tools available (e.g. notes).

Or thank the secretary for submitting the draft minutes (perhaps via another member) in such trying circumstances.
David A Foulkes Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:40 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 04:40 PM One way around this would be to dispense with the reading and approval of the minutes for this meeting, and catch up with them next meeting. See p. 474 ll. 8-18 (RONR 11th Ed.)

tctheatc Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:51 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:51 PM In time for tomorrow night's meeting?Sorry. Didn't realize my use of "best you can" implied it had to be completed immediately.
David A Foulkes Posted September 18, 2012 at 08:08 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 08:08 PM Sorry. Didn't realize my use of "best you can" implied it had to be completed immediately.I don't think the minutes are missing. I think it's just that the secretary won't be at the meeting with them tomorrow night. They don't need to be (re)created, just delivered, most likely by the secretary at the next meeting. tctheatc Posted September 19, 2012 at 02:31 AM Report Share Posted September 19, 2012 at 02:31 AM Oh, geez. Reading the first post on my tiny ipod, I thought it said the secretary had passed. My bad. I need the reading glasses more than I think. At least it makes it fun for anyone who likes to pounce on a mistake!
