Guest Senator5 Posted October 9, 2012 at 02:36 PM Report Posted October 9, 2012 at 02:36 PM The pastor of our church left a few months ago and we have been unable to replace him with someone from the outside. Is the associate pastor eligible to resume the role of senior pastor?
Trina Posted October 9, 2012 at 02:49 PM Report Posted October 9, 2012 at 02:49 PM This is not a question answered by RONR (rules of parliamentary procedure). What do your own governing documents say about eligibility requirements for the position of senior pastor? And I don't really mean that you should quote those rules at length -- rather that you need to determine whether the associate pastor meets the requirements, and/or whether your required selection process allows for his/her selection.
Gary Novosielski Posted October 10, 2012 at 02:23 AM Report Posted October 10, 2012 at 02:23 AM RONR has no eligibility requirements or qualifications for any office. (It is presumed that voters will not vote for someone they consider unqualified.) If a society has specific eligibility requirements, they would have to be contained in the bylaws.
