Guest Sarge Posted November 9, 2012 at 11:49 PM Report Share Posted November 9, 2012 at 11:49 PM Our constitution says the nominating committee shall be made up of four "members in good standing" of the society, selected by a chairman. In the chair's report of nominees he listed the committee members and one was not a member of the society. Does this mean his report is invalid? If so, can it even be brought before the board for discussion?
J. J. Posted November 10, 2012 at 12:28 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 at 12:28 AM No, especially since the other three members could nominate individually or collectively. A point of could be raised if the nonmembers vote effected the result, but that would not change the first statement.

It's a case where one if the individuals listed in the report as a member of the committee was not a member of the committee. So, the committee was probably operating with one fewer member than the bylaws instruct. This shouldn't invalidate the committee's action.
