Guest Diana Mc Posted November 10, 2012 at 01:04 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 at 01:04 AM If someone from the general membership attends a Board meeting, what is their status as far as voicing opinions and/or making suggestions during this meeting? Chris Harrison Posted November 10, 2012 at 02:52 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 at 02:52 AM They have no right to do so (RONR p. 3, p. 648 ll. 11-14). However, if no question is pending the nonmember (of the Board) can be allowed to address the Board and by a 2/3 vote can be allowed to enter into debate. Under no circumstances can a nonmember be given a vote.
Trina Posted November 10, 2012 at 03:16 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 at 03:16 AM Also (and this may not have been quite clear from Chris H.'s response), the person from the general membership has no automatic right to attend the Board meeting in the first place -- even that first step would require the permission of the board (if the rules in RONR govern).
