Guest Richard Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:32 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:32 PM How does RONR address a situation if there are officers whose position is up for relection and they decide not to run and there are no qualified people to be nominated to run. We have postions whose terms are up for re-election. Our Bi-laws state that you must attend 6 regualr monthly meetings in the last 12 months to qualify to run for an office. We do not have anyone who has those requirements. No what do we do according to RONR
Chris Harrison Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:38 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:38 PM If the term of office as defined in the bylaws is for a fixed term and/or until their successor is elected (or similar language) then the current officer would stay in office until someone is elected. If the term of office is a fixed term without any qualifying language then the office will fall vacant as soon as the term expires (RONR p. 573 l. 33 to p. 575). Guest Edgar Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:43 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 at 06:43 PM Now what do we do according to RONRYou might consider amending the bylaws to remove (or at least reduce) the attendance requirement. Or figure out why no eligible person wants to step up and assume some responsibility. That fact that some incumbents are choosing not to run for re-election suggests that the job descriptions might need some tweaking.
