Guest Donald E. Scott Posted November 15, 2012 at 08:58 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 at 08:58 PM 501©(3) association. Secretary resigns in November. In accordance with the P&P, the board will fill the position at its next regular meeting, in January. The new secretary will hold the position until the next business meeting, in June. The P&P says "no officer may serve consecutive terms in the same capacity." Clear enough. Is the individual who fills the position in January precluded from running for the office of Secretary at the business meeting in June?

Chris Harrison Posted November 16, 2012 at 12:54 AM Report Share Posted November 16, 2012 at 12:54 AM RONR/11 isn't available online (the most recent edition available online is the 4th which was Copyrighted in 1915). Pages. 574-575 says:Since a reasonable rotation in office is desirable in almost all organizations, a section of this article may well provide that "No officer shall be eligible to serve for more than . . . consecutive terms [specifying the number] in the same office." For purposes of determining eligibility to continue in office under such a provision, an officer who has served more than half a term is considered to have served a full term in that office.
