Chris Harrison Posted November 28, 2012 at 04:50 PM Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 at 04:50 PM Going by your Topic rather than your original post I would say that you need to check the bylaws to determine what an alternate can do.
David A Foulkes Posted November 28, 2012 at 04:59 PM Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 at 04:59 PM Alternate members, making motionsTo expand a wee bit on Chris's post, per RONR there is only one type of "member", and along with membership comes many rights including voting and making motions. Any restriction on these rights, short of the member being the object of displinary proceedings, would need to be included in the bylaws. It is there where you need to seek definition of an 'alternate member', and (with any luck) a clarification of what rights belong to such a member. It also might help to provide a few more details, as it seems like there's a bit more behind your question as it stands.
