Guest sandy s Posted December 10, 2012 at 11:28 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2012 at 11:28 PM If a president or other officer sends in a letter of resignation, does a motion need to be made to accept the resignation and then a subsequent vote taken? Guest Edgar Posted December 10, 2012 at 11:30 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2012 at 11:30 PM Yes, though it could be accepted (without a vote) by unanimous consent (since rejecting a resignation is usually not a practical option).3tAdYG
Rev Ed Posted December 11, 2012 at 12:11 AM Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 at 12:11 AM The easiest way would be for the Chairman to state that the organization (or the Board) has received a resignation from ____. If the resignation is in writing, then the Chairman should have the letter available if required. The Chairman should then state "If there is no objection (pause), then the resignation is accepted."
