g40 Posted January 30, 2013 at 09:48 PM Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 at 09:48 PM What, if anything, do your bylaws say about vacancies on the church board? If they say something, follow what they say.
Guest Edgar Posted January 30, 2013 at 09:49 PM Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 at 09:49 PM If your board has the authority to fill mid-term vacancies then your board should do that. Usually the replacement serves the full remainder of the term but sometimes they only serve until the next general election (e.g. the next annual meeting). So this would seem to be a very opportune time for you to check your bylaws. In any event, your board won't be doing anything at tonight's annual (general membership?) meeting since your board can only act as a board at a board meeting. Thomas Ralph Posted January 31, 2013 at 09:29 PM Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 at 09:29 PM If the member was the president, then the vice-president would take over. Otherwise, the bylaws would explain how the vacancy should be filled.
