Guest Stacey Posted February 1, 2013 at 07:59 PM Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 at 07:59 PM A coordinator for our PTO wants to use our debit card to make purchases for a PTO event. The board decided this was not a good idea, however, the coordinator has really pushed the idea. A board member has now suggested we open up a separate account that this coordinator can have access to & have a debit card for this account. This makes me very uncomfortable. Any thoughts or suggestions.

sMargaret Posted February 1, 2013 at 08:24 PM Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 at 08:24 PM You would probably be better served at a website such as PTO Today for a question like this - say here, referring to financial controls:http://www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/article/395-5-smart-financial-controlsAll that RONR can direct you to is "what do your bylaws say", "follow your bylaws", "if they don't say anything, let the membership decide by a vote", and "democracy rules".Oh, and "consult a lawyer instead of a parliamentarian", but with any luck that won't be required.
