Guest CCManager Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:21 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:21 PM Can there be more than one member as the Seconder of a motion or can there only be one person that is considered the Seconder?
Sean Hunt Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:28 PM There's no need. The second is just to ensure that the motion comes up for discussion, and after that has no meaning or purpose. The seconder normally should not be recorded in the minutes because seconding a motion does not necessarily mean you support it.
Chris Harrison Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 at 08:28 PM I have seen many times when several members second a motion at the same time but the name of the seconder is not included in the minutes unless the assembly orders it so if more than one person seconds the motion it is just more icing on the cake. Guest Edgar Posted February 13, 2013 at 10:13 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 at 10:13 PM Can there be more than one member as the Seconder of a motion or can there only be one person that is considered the Seconder?RONR notes (on p.432) that, when nominations are made, "no second is required but sometimes one or more members will second a nomination to indicate endorsement".
