Guest Zippy Posted October 16, 2013 at 11:37 AM Report Share Posted October 16, 2013 at 11:37 AM Scenario: You have a motion on the floor to approve 2 resolution items. One board member asks for a separate vote on the two items because he/she wants to vote yes on one but no on the other. First off, can you still proceed with the voting in this fashion. Secondly, if you do proceed, how do you show this in the minutes?

Secondly, if you do proceed, how do you show this in the minutes? If the resolutions deal with different subjects, they must receive separate consideration and vote at the request of a single member (RONR, 11th ed., pp. 274-75). The minutes should report what occurs.
jstackpo Posted October 16, 2013 at 11:59 AM Report Share Posted October 16, 2013 at 11:59 AM First off: Yes Second off(?): Here's a sample text for your minutes: Upon the demand of Charlie, a two-part motion offered by Bill was divided. The First motion: To ...... was defeated. The Second motion: To ..... was adopted. I am assuming that the two parts of Bill's motion could each stand alone.
