Guest sc Posted June 4, 2014 at 01:01 AM Report Share Posted June 4, 2014 at 01:01 AM The proposed new bylaws are printed in the newsletter with voting to take place at the next general meeting. Before said meeting the board of directors decides to make revisions to the proposed bylaws, can the new revisions be printed in the next newsletter& voting postponed until the next general meeting? Thanks for the help. jstackpo Posted June 4, 2014 at 01:32 AM Report Share Posted June 4, 2014 at 01:32 AM This probably depends on what the (original, current) bylaws require in the way of notice. You will have to look carefully at your bylaws to figure that out However those (last minute) alterations to the proposed bylaws may well fall within the scope of the original notice. The board's "last minute" changes could then be actually proposed at the meeting as amendments to the (original) proposed changes to the bylaws, but only if they are within scope. And you all will have to figure that out. If they are within scope and are presented as amendments to the amendments, they can be voted up or down, as the assembly wishes. Timothy Posted June 4, 2014 at 11:33 AM Report Share Posted June 4, 2014 at 11:33 AM But if the changes are out of scope, there is nothing to prevent the board from saying something along the lines of "Oops, we spoke too soon."
