Edgar Guest Posted March 14, 2015 at 01:16 AM Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 at 01:16 AM I'm going to go out on a limb here and say . . . NO! But if you think you do have that authority, you'll need to find the rule that says so. You won't find it in RONR.
DanielEHayes Posted March 14, 2015 at 07:43 AM Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 at 07:43 AM As president of a volunteer company do I have the authority to vetoIt would be dependent on the bylaws and rules of your company. Such a provision is not found within Robert's Rules of Order. In my extensive personal experiences of working with volunteers, you usually have the right to do whatever task the volunteers volunteered for and then didn't show for. That is almost a guarantee, the rest like being able to veto, not so much. Volunteers will be very likely to show and tell you what you are doing wrong though at the board meeting. At this point, understanding RONR will be quite useful. My advice is to buy a copy and start studying it extensively.
