lmat Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:46 PM Our board is under the impression that the list of candidates cannot be released to the general membership if one of the candidates has not accepted or declined nomination by the time of the meeting. If this is true, at what point can the list be released? If the candidate in question attends the general membership meeting and has still not accepted or declined the nomination by then nominates himself for that position as well as another, does this count as accepting the nomination? Dan Honemann Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:52 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:52 PM There is no requirement in RONR that a nominee accept or decline his nomination. A member cannot nominate more than one person for a single position to be filled.

The candidate nominated himself for 2 different positions.

Nothing wrong with this.
Gary Novosielski Posted March 23, 2015 at 04:08 PM Report Share Posted March 23, 2015 at 04:08 PM If the candidate never accepts or declines the nomination, can the list of candidates be presented to the general membership with an empty spot for a position? The candidate nominated himself for 2 different positions. Not only that, the list can be presented with his name instead of an empty spot. And other people can make nominations from the floor that go beyond the list provided by the nominations committee, presuming that's where this list is coming from. You don't actually say for sure.
