Guest Sunshyn Posted March 10, 2017 at 03:49 PM Report Share Posted March 10, 2017 at 03:49 PM In requesting Proxy Votes from eligible voting members in writing, is it required to provide what is being voted on along with other options such as who you are giving the Proxy Vote to and how you want to vote, as opposed to just requesting a blanket proxy vote given to the Chair of the meeting? Richard Brown Posted March 10, 2017 at 03:57 PM Report Share Posted March 10, 2017 at 03:57 PM Any provisions regarding the use of proxies will have to be in your own rules or determined by your own organization. RONR frowns upon the use of proxies in most societies and provides no rules regarding their use, other than a statement that the use of proxies is prohibited unless the laws of your state require it or your bylaws specifically permit it. Rev Ed Posted March 10, 2017 at 05:12 PM Report Share Posted March 10, 2017 at 05:12 PM Ok, I'll add the question of why do you want to collect proxies for? Some more details would be appreciated. Although the first thing to tell us is if proxies are allowed. As Richard stated, if there is nothing that allows for proxies (statute or By-law provision) then proxies are null and void.
