Guest Dsegovia Posted September 13, 2017 at 09:36 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2017 at 09:36 PM I am affiliated with a Union. My question is in reference to having a Quarum for a committee. I know we need a 10 person minimum for our regular meetings but we have a executive committee meeting right before our regular meeting . but at times we do not have the full committee of 5 members. So my question is do we need all five as I'm having a hard time finding if a minimum is required
Bruce Lages Posted September 13, 2017 at 09:41 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2017 at 09:41 PM The default quorum in RONR is a majority of the current members. But this is frequently changed by organizations to suit their particular situation. Check your rules to see if a quorum is established for the executive committee. In the absence of any such rule, it would be the default of a majority - in your case 3 members. Incidentally, an executive committee is more in the nature of a board than a typical committee, but this does not alter the default quorum requirement.
