Guest Terry Posted October 8, 2017 at 09:32 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2017 at 09:32 PM Our club has Code of Ethics that each member needs to sign to become a member. Does the Board approve any changes/additions to the CoE? Does have to go out to the membership for their approval? Thanks.
Greg Goodwiller, PRP Posted October 8, 2017 at 10:38 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2017 at 10:38 PM Unless there is some specific delegation of that authority to the board, then the membership would need to approve it. So it depends on what your bylaws say about the Board's authority.
Richard Brown Posted October 9, 2017 at 12:00 AM Report Share Posted October 9, 2017 at 12:00 AM Agreeing with Mr. Goodwiller's response, you might see FAQs 12 and 13 on the main website for more information. Here is a link to FAQ 12. No. 13 is right below it. http://www.robertsrules.com/interp_list.html#2006_12
Transpower Posted October 9, 2017 at 02:10 PM Report Share Posted October 9, 2017 at 02:10 PM The only reference to a Code of Ethics is RONR (11th ed), p. 643, l. 5. Your Code is for the members of the club, not simply the members of the board, so as the previous responses have indicated it's up to the club's membership to adopt any changes/additions to your Code.
