Guest Linda Posted October 17, 2017 at 10:55 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2017 at 10:55 PM In our small board of directors (12) our President debates every question, makes motions, and votes on every motion, all from the chair. He shows absolutely no impartiality. Should he not relinquish the chair before debating and making motions?
Richard Brown Posted October 17, 2017 at 11:25 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2017 at 11:25 PM (edited) Not necessarily. In small boards and committees of no more than about a dozen members, the rules are relaxed and the chairman may participate and vote the same as the other members. Edited to add: see FAQ #1 for more information: http://www.robertsrules.com/faq.html#1 Edited October 17, 2017 at 11:35 PM by Richard Brown Added last paragraph
