Guest Roy Posted January 12, 2018 at 01:50 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2018 at 01:50 PM How do you proceed if there is a tie vote for nomination for the office of the chair? Two people were nominated and when the vote was taken, there was a tie. Neither candidate would withdraw their nomination. We were unsure how to proceed. Joshua Katz Posted January 12, 2018 at 01:51 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2018 at 01:51 PM Vote again, and continue voting until someone has a majority.
jstackpo Posted January 12, 2018 at 02:00 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2018 at 02:00 PM Try again. (RONR, p. 441) And again. As JK said. After a while, someone may get tired of this and change his/her position. ( Or an odd number of people change -- even number of changers won't get you anywhere). If that doesn't work, reopen nominations and you might get a third (dark-horse, or compromise) candidate that will satisfy a majority of the voters.
