Guest Mike Posted January 22, 2018 at 08:38 PM Report Share Posted January 22, 2018 at 08:38 PM Held elections and the current chairman states he is still the chairman at the next meeting. Would not the newly elected chairman take over at the beginning of the next meeting?
Joshua Katz Posted January 22, 2018 at 08:49 PM Report Share Posted January 22, 2018 at 08:49 PM According to the rules in RONR, the election would be effective immediately (not at the next meeting). However, what do your bylaws say about term of office and conduct of elections?
Richard Brown Posted January 23, 2018 at 01:38 AM Report Share Posted January 23, 2018 at 01:38 AM I agree with Mr. Katz. Your bylaws probably state when the new officers take over. If not, according to RONR, the elections take effect immediately. It is quite common, though, for the outgoing officers to serve through the end of the election meeting and for the new officers to take over upon adjournment.
