Guest Mike O"Connell Posted August 23, 2018 at 08:43 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2018 at 08:43 PM If an individual is on the board with a 3 year term, one year left, can they run for another corporate position without resigning from the board. It is understood that should the individual get the other position they will resign from the board.Question is should they be required to complete their committed term first. Richard Brown Posted August 23, 2018 at 08:56 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2018 at 08:56 PM Nothing in RONR prohibits it. Any such prohibition (or requirement) would have to be in your own rules. RONR would not even prohibit the person from serving in two offices simultaneously, although the person would get only one vote if both positions are board positions. Gary Novosielski Posted August 25, 2018 at 01:36 AM Report Share Posted August 25, 2018 at 01:36 AM There's nothing wrong with someone seeking election to another position and waiting for the result before deciding whether to resign their present position. If it is "understood" that they will resign, then it ought to be understood that the resignation will be accepted. It depends who is doing the understanding.
