Guest steve beilgard Posted August 28, 2018 at 03:32 AM Report Posted August 28, 2018 at 03:32 AM If a city council makes and approves a motion, how long is it law considering laws of a permanent nature must be made by code or ordinance? Quote
Richard Brown Posted August 28, 2018 at 03:59 AM Report Posted August 28, 2018 at 03:59 AM Steve, your question is really a legal question and we don't do legal here. From a parliamentary standpoint, adopted motions stay in effect indefinitely... permanently... unless by its own terms the motion expires or its intended purpose has been fully completed, such as a motion to purchase a computer. It remains in effect until the computer is purchased. After that, I suppose it's somewhat moot. Your question is one that is better suited for someone like the city attorney to answer. Quote
