Reading the board of directors minutes

Hi. When the board of directors meet before the general members meeting do they read the minutes from their meeting to the members?

No, unless they, the Board, want to.

At the general membership meeting, however, the general membership can REQUIRE that the Board read its minutes to the membership ( page 487) so don't put anything indiscreet in the Board minutes.  Only what was done, not what was said, remember.)

This is entirely up to the board of directors or perhaps to the membership if the membership desires to direct that the minutes of the board meeting be read to the assembly. As a practical matter, it seems that it would be rather unlikely that the board minutes would have been completed if the board meeting took place only moments prior to the general membership meeting.

A record of the board's proceedings should be kept by the secretary, just as in any other assembly; these minutes are accessible only to the members of the board unless the board grants permission to a member of the society to inspect them, or unless the society by a two-thirds vote (or the vote of a majority of the total membership, or a majority vote if previous notice is given) orders the board's minutes to be produced and read to the society's assembly.
