Guest Oliver Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:19 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:19 PM Our assembly voted on a set of candidates but later discovered that one of the individuals was not a member at the time of the election. I realize that this invalidates the results and violates the Bylaws. As per RONR, we would need to hold the election again now that all of the candidates are current and in good standing, correct? Richard Brown Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:24 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:24 PM Only the election of the unqualified candidate is void. You have an incomplete election for that position which should be completed as soon as possible. You will essentially hold a new election for that position. Chris Harrison Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:27 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:27 PM Do your bylaws actually specify that in order to be elected office the candidate needs to be a member? RONR imposes no such requirement.
Richard Brown Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:28 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 at 06:28 PM Just now, Chris Harrison said: Do your bylaws actually specify that in order to be elected office the candidate needs to be a member? RONR imposes no such requirement. That is a good point. I agree.
