We cannot speak to what state law might or might not require, but according to the rules in RONR regular reports, whether by the treasurer or other officers, should not be formally approved. Once a report is presented, the chair should thank the officer (or committee chair ) for the report and then call on the next officer who is to report. Written reports should be placed on file, but there is no need for a formal motion to do so. The only time a report should be formally approved is when it is the intent of the assembly to actually adopt every word in the report as the report of the assembly. That will not normally happen very often, if at all. However, recommendations contained in a report should be voted on.
