Removal from OfficeOfficers can be removed from office for cause, such as failure to perform duties or missing three (3) consecutive meetings by a two-thirds vote of those present at a general membership meeting where previous notice has been given. Unethical behavior or criminal misconduct is grounds for immediate dismissal from office and reporting to administrator and legal authorities as necessary. What is the necessary process to follow to remove an officer in this instance if the organization has also adopted RONR? Determining the meaning of a bylaw provision requires reviewing the bylaws (and any other applicable governing documents) in their entirety, which is beyond the scope of this forum. However, if your bylaws prescribe a method for removing an officer from office, that method would supersede the process in RONR. So, the process in your bylaws would be the necessary process to follow.
