Tomm Posted September 15, 2021 at 05:18 PM Report Share Posted September 15, 2021 at 05:18 PM Section 62 pertains to the dereliction of duty by the Chair in a regular general membership meeting. How do you deal with a rogue Chair if it's in a meeting of the board and the general membership is only in attendance as guests? How do we hold the Chair/Board that refuses to faithfully follow RONR, which is specified as their parliamentary authority to task? Is a recall petition the only remedy? Section 62 is applicable to any assembly, but only the assembly can take those actions. The board would take the actions at a board meeting. The board is somewhat more limited in the actions it may take in this regard than the general membership would be. Given the reference to the general membership in attendance as guests, however, I understand that "you" in this context refers to the general membership. The general membership has no authority to take action during a meeting of the board. If your rules are silent, the applicable rules are found in Ch. XX of RONR, and they will vary depending on how the bylaws define the term of office. In any event, the disciplinary procedures in RONR do not involve a "recall petition."
