DebbieinFL Posted November 29, 2021 at 07:16 PM Report Share Posted November 29, 2021 at 07:16 PM Our society votes for elected positions by casting ballots. The Nominating Committee members gather the ballots and are charged with tallying them and reporting the count. Can business continue being conducted by the society while those votes are tallied or do we pause until they're finished counting, as though the motion isn't completely finished until the count is complete? Thanks.

Thanks. It can be done either way. If the preparation of the tellers' report is expected to take any significant amount of time, then a motion to recess should be adopted if the assembly wishes to wait. If no such motion is adopted, it would be usual for the meeting to continue with other business until the report is ready.
