laser158689 Posted January 18, 2023 at 08:38 PM Report Share Posted January 18, 2023 at 08:38 PM Growing pains with a new electronic voting system... Some folks believe their votes were recorded incorrectly (or not recorded at all). The vote was very close (3 out of ~205 attendees) The issues were not identified until after the vote was announced and another motion taken up. (No chance to move for a recount with a different method.) No one thought to suggest a motion to Reconsider on the part of someone mis-assigned to the winning side (if such a person exists). What other options are there? Rescind something previously adopted?

What other options are there? Rescind something previously adopted? Assuming the time limit for Reconsider has passed (which is likely), the only options are a motion to Rescind or to Amend Something Previously Adopted. (I am assuming the original motion was adopted.) The belief that members’ votes were recorded incorrectly is not grounds for a challenge to the results. So the situation here is much the same as if there were no allegations of error and members simply disagreed with the result of the vote. “When used, there is usually a presumption of technical, mechanical accuracy of the electronic system if properly used by the members. Changes of votes after the result has been announced by the chair on the allegation of machine error are not entertained.” RONR (12th ed.) 45:55 Edited January 18, 2023 at 09:21 PM by Josh Martin
