Guest Marilyn Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:39 PM Report Share Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:39 PM At a Board of Director's meeting of a Homeowners Association, can a Point of Order be raised from the floor? The Board adopted regular Board minutes at a Special meeting and a Point of Order was raised from the floor. Some members of the Board are saying that only the Board can raise a Point of Order. The Board adopted regular Board minutes at a Special meeting and a Point of Order was raised from the floor. Some members of the Board are saying that only the Board can raise a Point of Order.Only members of the body that is meeting have any parliamentary rights at that meeting. That means only board members at board meetings. Non-members are guests (even if they're members of the association) and do not constitute "the floor".That said, minutes should not be approved at a special meeting (unless the special meeting was called for that purpose, though that would be highly irregular). George Mervosh Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:58 PM Draft this non-member to run for the Board.....someone on it with a decent knowledge of RONR won't hurt, right?
