Guest EVELYN Posted October 7, 2010 at 01:17 PM Report Share Posted October 7, 2010 at 01:17 PM Our bylaws state that for the annual elections, the nomination committee must nominate "at least one" person for each position open. what if they have 5 qualified people and there are only 4 positions open? Do they nominate the 4 people they like or should the membership be allowed to have an actual election?
jstackpo Posted October 7, 2010 at 01:26 PM Report Share Posted October 7, 2010 at 01:26 PM "At least one" means they could nominate more than one per position. Or all five for the four (board?) positions open. After the nomcom report, the floor must be open for nominations, so if some members don't like the Committee's selections they can propose other candidates. While the committee is free to select more than one candidate, it should not simply select everyone who's "qualified".As noted, additional nominations can be made "from the floor". Nominations are one thing - elections are another.
